Ans : – See the videos made by me ( in youtube search as Dezrina or “ Zookeeper Physics “ – will see all Uploaded ones. Though we have many more which have not been uploaded ). While watching the videos, take notes and try to solve the problems yourself by pausing the video. Tell me if any calculation is wrong. See the videos with 1- first then 2- and so on.  Write to IAPT Kothrud, Pune office to buy ( 150 Rs approx ) the book with previous papers of NSEP ( National Standard Exam in Physics – The 1st level ), INPhO ( Indian National Physics Olympiad – 2nd level ). Prepare with these and see how much you are scoring. You can guess your ALL INDIA rank easily from NSEP, and INPhO rank. Since 1998 the IIT JEE toppers have been mostly representing India in IPhO.

2 ) Which codec and Player do I use to see the videos ?

Ans : – You can use GOM Player, or VLC Player. You have to have good speakers with filters or good earphones with filters. We have checked mostly it is OK with these. ( If you are depending only on your embedded speakers of computer /screen / keyboard then there may be extra distortions. As these speakers are often not of good Quality. Also install latest KL Codecs ) In any case reduce the volume see the board, imagine sitting in the last bench and solving the problems of your own. See if your solution differs anywhere with the scribbles on the board.

Ans :- There are lots of NGOs and others working for rural / poor children education at lower classes. While very less effort is on for std 9 till 12. Also see the answer in question number ( 3 ) above. In last 20 years of teaching I never met a Poor child who was seriously interested in ( higher ) studies. As I have a mind / thinking of a ” Physicist “, I go by ” Experimental Observation“.

Ans :-
In times of change, managers and supervisors can be both the greatest ally and the greatest obstacle for change teams. They are the closest to the employees who must adopt the new

processes and behaviors associated with a project or initiative. In many cases, the work of managers and supervisors will also be impacted by a project.
The traditional role of the supervisor has been to plan, direct, and control the work done by subordinates. Because of delayering, many Federal organizations are moving to team structures as a

way of adjusting to higher subordinate/supervisor ratios. In many types of teams that still function as traditional work units (with low levels of employee empowerment in the decision making

process), the traditional role of the supervisor still fits. However, in situations where teams are given more authority over how work gets done for instance in semiautonomous or self-directed

teams the traditional role of the supervisor will actually hinder the development of the team. That is why it is important to the success of any team initiative to train delayered supervisors.
Getting managers and supervisors on-board and taking the lead in supporting employee change is crucial.
5 roles that managers and supervisors must play in times of change:
+ Communicator – Communicate with direct reports about the change
+ Advocate – Demonstrate support for the change
+ Coach – Coach employees through the change process
+ Liaison – Engage with and provide support to the project team
+ Resistance manager – Identify and manage resistance

The roles of “Coach” and “Resistance manager” represent the biggest departure for many managers from the role they have historically played in the organization. The other three roles are

more aligned with what a manager has done in the past, but effectively coaching employees through a change and identifying and managing resistance to change require a new set of skills.

Many times, great managers have difficulty when tasked with becoming great managers of change because they have not been adequately prepared to do so.
The first step in engaging managers and supervisors as leaders of change is getting them on board with the change. A manager must be supportive of a change before he or she can

The communication plan should have a portion focused on managers and supervisors – explaining why the change is happening, the benefits of the change and the nature of the change from the

manager’s perspective. These communications should start very early in the project life cycle to ensure adequate time before the managers and supervisors are asked to communicate with their

reports. In addition to general change messages, specific messages about the role of managers and supervisors and how to lead direct reports should be communicated. Communications should

come from preferred senders, in this case the manager’s supervisor and leadership. Two-way communications are critical with this group to allow for exchanges and feedback.

Specific sponsorship activities in the overall change management plan should also be focused at the manager and supervisor group. Their leaders, and in some cases the managers themselves,

are part of the coalition of leaders needed to drive the change forward.

Finally, resistance management planning should focus on the manager and supervisor group. In Prosci’s previous benchmarking studies, the manager and supervisor group was identified as the

most resistant to change. Proactive resistance management plans that address the key concerns of managers and supervisors – such as loss of control and workload issues – are required to

anticipate and mitigate resistance from managers and supervisors.

From a change management perspective, managers and supervisors should first be treated as a group of employees impacted by the change. The first step to engage this group in their role of

leading change is to ensure that they are supportive of the change and that resistance from the group has been managed.
Managers and supervisors not only need competencies in leading change, they need tools to help them help their people in times of change. Many times, the tools needed to manage change are

different than the normal tools managers are familiar with using.

One of the most important tools you can provide to managers and supervisors is a model for understanding the human reaction to change.
There are a number of additional tools that should be provided to managers and supervisors as they are engaged as leaders of change, including:

Communication packets – Communicator was one of the five roles of managers and supervisors in times of change identified in the research. But what messages need to be communicated?

Managers and supervisors should be provided with simple but comprehensive communications packets that contain the project information they are expected to convey to their direct reports.

Resistance management tools and tips – Resistance manager was another of the five roles of managers and supervisors, and the one that research participants identified as needing the most

improvement. Tools that help managers and supervisor know what resistance might look like, where it is likely to show up and how to identify root causes of resistance are beneficial. Tips and

suggestions for addressing resistance when it does occur in a proactive and effective manner can help managers to engage front-line employees.
Guidelines on how to measure performance – Changes are only successful when employees do their work in a different way, as prescribed by the project or change initiative. Managers and

supervisors are in the best location to identify if changes are taking hold, and you can provide them with additional tools for understanding if a change is taking hold and if employees are

“complying” with the new way of doing their jobs.
Managers and supervisors will need support when taking on their new “leader of change” role. Some of the tasks and responsibilities that come with being a good coach of employees through

change are difficult. In many instances, this is a completely new undertaking for a manager or supervisor. You need to provide outlets and opportunities for support when managers are leading

change.

One area of support necessary will be helping them implement the processes and tools you have provided for leading change. Opportunities to try out new approaches for identifying resistance in

a safe setting can go a long way in helping managers and supervisors to be successful. Chances to practices “Question and Answer” sessions or delivery of key communication messages will

help managers and supervisors to be more comfortable in their role as communicator. Support on these new roles goes beyond classroom learning, and practice is a great form of support.

You also need to tell this group where they can go for support. Resources could include peers who have already used the tools and processes or Subject Matter Experts who can provide

guidance. Give managers and supervisors access to others in the organization who can provide suggestions and give feedback on how to coach employees through change.

Becoming a great leader of change is not easy – it involves learning new skills and using new tools to engage direct reports. With effective reinforcement and support available, managers and

supervisors can become the ally that project teams need in an ever-changing environment.
The most difficult change seems to be transitioning from the supervisor role to the team leader or team member role, especially in a semi-autonomous or self-directed team. Not all supervisors

make good team leaders. Many supervisors are used to planning, directing, and controlling the work. They may not know how to lead group consensus decision making processes or facilitate

group problem-solving exercises. Team leaders need skills in group dynamics, facilitation, and coaching skills that traditional supervisors may or may not have. Additionally, some supervisors

may not want to give up their authority and decision-making power. They like having control over what happens. As a result, there have been some situations where the transition just didn’t work

and the former supervisor was removed from the team and placed elsewhere.

Whether a delayered supervisor becomes a team leader or assumes some other leadership role in a team environment, that employee needs training, coaching, and mentoring from higher level

managers. Agencies would be wise to focus attention on the training and development needs of delayered supervisors; sometimes it is this group that can make or break an organization’s team

efforts.

In addition to ensuring that the delayered supervisor’s management style fits an empowered environment, agencies need to keep another factor in mind if they want to transition supervisors to

team leaders successfully. Do the former supervisor’s job duties and responsibilities (minus the supervisory responsibilities) support the person’s current grade? If not, the move from supervisor

to team leader may mean a loss of grade for the employee. For agencies doing everything they can to sustain the grades of these highly valuable people, this option is extremely distasteful but

is sometimes unavoidable. The only mitigating factor to downgrading the position is that the employee will retain grade for two years and then retain pay. Under pay retention rules, their rate of

pay will gradually decline until it falls within the pay range of the new grade.

Ans:- Innovation drives long-term economic growth. It has a crucial role to play as global economies recover from the current financial crisis.
Innovation can drive growth and create jobs. It happens in the least developed countries as well as in the most developed. In all countries, benefits can be reaped by well-planned policy

interventions to support innovation, but this is neither simple nor easy, and no one approach suits all. Innovation policy has to take account of local conditions, economic inequities, demographic

challenges and informal economic activity if there are to be positive outcomes. This suggests that the understanding of innovation, and of innovation policy, should have greater prominence on the

development agenda, and this volume aims to help that happen.
Innovation to become part of a comprehensive development agenda, and makes recommendations for promoting activities in both the formal and informal sectors, with the aim of transforming

agriculture into a knowledge-based industry capable of stimulating economic growth.
Innovation in developing economies is a means of wealth and job creation and of economic growth. However, this innovation may be managed quite differently from technological innovation, which

is based in developed and emerging economies on the formal creation of knowledge through research and development (R&D). Non-technological innovation and the use of existing knowledge to

create value in the marketplace are more likely to be found in the developing world, where these activities are not tracked as part of official statistics.
Innovation is often seen as carried out by highly educated labor in R&D intensive companies with strong ties to leading centers of excellence in the scientific world. Seen from this angle innovation

is a typical “first world” activity. There is, however, another way to look at innovation that goes significantly beyond this high-tech picture. In this, broader, perspective, innovation – the attempt

to try out new or improved products, processes or ways to do things – is an aspect of most if not all economic activities. In this sense, it is argued (section one), innovation may be as relevant in

of the paper surveys attempts to identify and measure capabilities as the national level. However, the development of such capabilities, it is shown, depends in important ways on what firms do.

Section four, therefore, focuses on recent attempt to survey innovation activity in firms in developing countries and what can be learnt from that. Section five discusses the role of domestic versus

foreign sources in fostering innovation in the developing part of the world. The final section summarizes the main lessons.

Economic growth is generally regarded as a necessary component of any development strategies aimed at meeting the aspirations of New Zealanders for an improved quality of life. Given

population growth, economic growth is necessary just to maintain the material quality of life that New Zealanders enjoy at their present levels. However, the production and consumption that

make up our economic activity use the natural resources described in the chapter: Environment and Ecosystem Resilience. While economic growth also undoubtedly brings benefits in terms of

increased incomes and material quality of life, there is sound evidence associating it with negative environmental and social effects. Without documenting, measuring, understanding, mitigating

and where possible avoiding these negative impacts, desired levels of economic growth may not be sustainable, or may have costs to society that are unacceptable. This chapter identifies some

influences on growth, and presents a number of relevant indicators of trends within the economy.
Economic activity is closely linked to people’s material standard of living, resource use, consumption and production and, ultimately, quality of life. Economic activity is largely founded on the

operation of markets. An element of the debate about sustainable economic development is the extent to which markets, if left to themselves, could produce sustainable economic development,

and if they did not, what might be the most effective intervention strategies for society and governments to pursue.

Economic growth is generally regarded as a positive goal, since growth generates increased income and increased income is required for increased material well-being. However, growth involves

increased use of resources, environmental impacts and social change; and increasing income now may reduce the potential for income in future. The economist J R Hicks defined income as the

maximum amount that can be consumed consistent with the maintenance of wealth.
To be sustainable, increased income must come about in a way that does not reduce the ability of the environment to keep providing at least the same level of income into the future.

Economic growth requires a political environment that facilitates this growth. Sound political, legal and bureaucratic institutions can foster the trust and confidence needed to support investment

for growth. Regulation provides a way to consider economic, environmental and social outcomes in decision-making, and therefore help promote sustainable development. It can be an important

tool for ensuring that long-term impacts are not ignored at the expense of short-term benefits. However, the cost of complying with regulations can be a barrier to development. High compliance

costs can deter investment in marginal projects or make time-dependent projects unviable. High costs and complex processes can also mean that others affected by proposals may not be able

to effectively take part in the processes of assessing risks.

Economic growth provides more work and generates more income. It can lead to wealth creation at the individual and community level, allowing people to raise their material standard of living

and potentially strengthen communities. Higher incomes are generally associated with better health and housing. Wealthy countries tend to attract migrants, and higher wealth is associated with

increased geographic mobility and leisure time. Despite the benefits, the gains from higher wealth can also put additional pressure on environments and infrastructure.

Increasing well-being brought about by economic growth may in turn alter patterns of economic behaviour as values change. As the basic needs of life are met, individual and community values

shift towards making trade-offs in a way that may mitigate negative social and environmental impacts. For example, wealthier consumers may be more willing to pay a premium for

‘environmentally friendly’ goods; greater financial and technological wealth may enable more efficient production methods.

Some part of higher incomes can be redistributed to benefit the community, for example by providing public transport. However, the additional income generated by economic growth can also be

unevenly distributed between social groups or communities, leading to differences in standards of living. Communities can be affected by uneven distribution of wealth and opportunities.

Economic growth can assist countries to cope with demographic change, and in particular to help meet the needs of an ageing population and pay for the education required to increase people’s

skills.

The indicators that relate to the social impacts of economic growth are in the Living Standards and Social Cohesion chapters.

Human capital is also an input to economic growth. The fostering of economic activity based on particular industries or regions requires appropriately skilled communities of sufficient size to

provide the workforce for these industries. Continued research and development needs to be supported by people with relevant skills. New Zealand’s population growth and education levels may

not be sufficient to provide the human capital needed to sustain economic growth.

The contribution of human capital is discussed further in the chapter: Skills and Knowledge.

Economic activity has two broad impacts on the environment. Firstly, when resources are: non-renewable; cannot be reused or renewed as fast as they are being used; or, cannot be replaced by

other resources; the stock of resources will decline over time. Secondly, production and consumption have other impacts: creating noise, air, visual or other pollution. One of the crucial issues

around the sustainability of economic performance will be the extent to which economic activity and economic growth can occur without unacceptable environmental impacts.

Innovation – finding new ways of doing things – can contribute to sustainable development. Ongoing investment in science and technology aimed at more efficient resource use and reducing the

negative impacts of economic activity will help deliver sustainable development. Industrial development based on this investment could take advantage of New Zealand’s strengths to help make

the best use of our resources.

Advances in science and technology can help to sustain our non-renewable resources and minimise the environmental costs of economic activity, for example reducing pollution. There are a

number of sectors where renewable resources could be substituted for non-renewable resources currently used in production processes. However, in many cases further technological advances

are required for this substitution to be able to occur with minimal economic impact.

Q3 ) What is the role and responsibility of management?
Ans :-
Corporate culture is a strong driver of company performance. The Center for Corporate Change believes that a progressive Board ignores culture only at its own peril. Clear separation between

the management role and the Board role in setting corporate culture is needed.

The Board’s role is to define the culture desired with management’s collaboration. Then the Board’s role as steward is then to hire a CEO who will implement that culture and to monitor selected

activities to ensure that the desired culture is being implemented by management.

Management’s role is to offer collaborative input to the Board on culture and then to implement that culture as defined by the Board.

The Center for Corporate Changes welcomes thoughtful input from interested parties on all aspects of our work to progressively reform American business.

This impact of culture on company performance has not yet been statistically proven, nor has the impact of good Board governance on company performance been directly linked to corporate

culture. But the Center for Corporate Change believes there is a very strong indirect link at least between culture and company performance.
If a company’s culture can be defined as “how we do things here,” then culture evolves over time from a very complex set of drivers. These include the company’s defined purpose for being, its

explicit or implicit values, the specific goals it strives to achieve, the key metrics to which it pays attention, its strategy and tactical action plans, its economic, industry, and competitive

environments, and, most of all, its people related aspects—-the organization structure, the type of people at the firm, especially the leadership philosophy of the CEO, the amount of

collaboration or teamwork encouraged, the leadership styles valued and utilized, and the reward and punishment systems to name just some of the drivers. Culture results, generally over long

periods of time, from the impacts of all of these complex and interrelated factors. Culture is not easily changed and can clearly have a powerful impact on what people do.
No Board can or should get involved in managing the details of how things are done in a company. That is management’s responsibility under the leadership of the CEO. And management’s

actions will clearly have a huge impact on the culture of the company. Management defines the strategy of the company and the detailed action plans; management hires and terminates certain

kinds of people, writes the policies, and sets (either consciously or unconsciously) the leadership styles used in the company; management decides who to reward and punish; and management is

responsible for many other culture setting aspects of the firm.

So then, does a progressive Board just say “We can’t get involved in this corporate culture stuff; we don’t have the time, nor the mandate to do so; we have to leave that to management”? The

Center for Corporate Change believes that position will become increasingly untenable for a progressive Board wishing to be successful in the 21st century. Witness the Enron Board with

impeccable credentials in most areas, but woefully unaware of what was really happening on the trading floors and in the company operations. That Board presided over one of the most massive

corporate implosions in history. Will any responsible director now assert that we have to leave those issues exclusively to management?

Most directors probably serve much longer tenures than the average CEO. Most CEO tenures are probably 4-6 years, and culture change in larger companies can really take hold and be

sustainable over longer periods.
For a Board to leave culture to the CEO exclusively is to abdicate a key responsibility.
Board Culture
The progressive Board needs to start with its own Boardroom culture. Frequently this is done through a proactive Governance or Executive Committee. Are communications open and respectful?

Is proper independence being honored? Are periodic evaluations of Board and individual directors being conducted? Are independent advisors available? Is access being provided to key

stakeholders? Are agenda topics collaboratively set? Is sufficient preparation time and information provided for meaningful discussion? Are directors willing to be a “voice of one” when in

disagreement? A good Board culture will evolve from these and other progressive governance practices. That good Board culture will then cascade down the whole company.

Q4 ) A satisfactory strategic plan must be realistic and attainable so as to allow managers and entrepreneurs to think strategically and act operationally? Explain?
Ans :-
Strategic planning and business development are intrinsically linked; the latter cannot be successfully accomplished without regard to the former.

A strategic plan should not be confused with a business plan. The former is likely to be a very short document whereas the latter is likely to be much more substantial and detailed. The former

provides the foundation and framework for the latter.

If you don’t know where your business is going, any road will get you there. Small business owners are often so preoccupied with immediate issues that they lose sight of their ultimate objectives.

That’s why a business review or preparation of a strategic plan is a virtual necessity. This may not be a recipe for success, but without it a business is much more likely to fail. A sound strategic

plan should:
Serve as a framework for decisions or for securing support/approval,
Explain the business to others in order to inform, motivate and involve,
Assist benchmarking and performance monitoring,
Stimulate change and become building block for next plan.
A strategic plan should be visionary, conceptual and directional in contrast to an operational plan, which is likely to be shorter term, tactical, tightly focused, implementable and measurable. A

strategic plan must be realistic and attainable.
Essential points to observe during review and planning process
A critical review of past performance by the owners and management of a business and the preparation of a plan beyond normal budgetary horizons require a certain attitude of mind and pre-

disposition. Some essential points which should to be observed during the review and planning process include the following:
Relate to the medium term i.e. 2/4 years,
Be undertaken by owners/directors,
Focus on matters of strategic importance,
Be separated from day-to-day work,
Be realistic, detached and critical,
Distinguish between cause and effect,
Be reviewed periodically,
Be written down.
The first step is to develop a realistic Vision for the business. This should be presented as a pen picture of the business in three or more years time in terms of its likely physical appearance,

size, activities etc. Answer the question: “if someone from Mars visited the business, what would they see (or sense)?” Consider its future products, markets, customers, processes, location,

staffing etc.
The nature of a business is often expressed in terms of its Mission which indicates the purposes of the business, for example, “to design, develop, manufacture and market specific product lines

for sale on the basis of certain features to meet the identified needs of specified customer groups via certain distribution channels in particular geographic areas”. A statement along these lines

indicates what the business is about and is infinitely clearer than saying, for instance, “we’re in electronics” or worse still, “we are in business to make money” (assuming that the business is not

the Royal Mint!).
The third key element is to explicitly state the business’s Objectives in terms of the results it needs/wants to achieve in the medium/long term. Aside from indicating a necessity to achieve

regular profits, objectives should relate to the expectations and requirements of all the major stakeholders, including employees, and should reflect the underlying reasons for running the

business. These objectives could cover growth, profitability, technology, offerings and markets.
Values governing the operation of the business and its conduct or relationships with society at large, customers, suppliers, employees, local community and other stakeholders.
the Strategies – the rules and guidelines by which the mission, objectives etc. may be achieved. They can cover the business as a whole including such matters as diversification, organic growth,

or acquisition plans, or they can relate to primary matters in key functional areas, for example:
The company’s internal cash flow will fund all future growth,
New products will progressively replace existing ones over the next 3 years,
All assembly work will be contracted out to lower the company’s break-even point.
Goals. These are specific interim or ultimate time-based measurements to be achieved by implementing strategies in pursuit of the company’s objectives, for example, to achieve sales of £3m in

three years time. Goals should be quantifiable, consistent, realistic and achievable. They can relate to factors like market (sizes and shares), products, finances, profitability, utilization, and

efficiency.

Programs

The final elements are the Programs which set out the implementation plans for the key strategies. These should cover resources, objectives, time-scales, deadlines, budgets and performance

targets.
It goes without saying that the mission, objectives, values, strategies and goals must be inter-linked and consistent with each other. This is much easier said than done because many businesses,

which are set up with the clear objective of making their owners wealthy often, lack strategies, realistic goals or concise missions.
Statements on vision, mission, objectives, values, strategies and goals are not just elements of future planning. They also provide benchmarks for a historic review. Most managers will find it

exceedingly difficult to develop a future strategy for a business without knowing its current strategies and measuring their success to date.
The starting point must be to determine a company’s existing (implicit or explicit) vision, mission, objectives and strategies. These are then judged against actual performance along the following

lines:
Is the current vision being realized?
How has the company’s mission and objectives changed over the past say, three years? Why have the changes occurred or why have no changes occurred? Identify primary reasons and

categories as either internal or external,
Description of the actual strategies followed over the past few years,
Critical examination of each strategy statement by reference to activities and actions in key functional areas covering such matters as:
How has the company been managed?
How has the company been funded?
How has the company sought to increase sales and market share?
How have productivity/costs moved?
Q5) What are the levels of management?

The term “Levels of Management’ refers to a line of demarcation between various managerial positions in an organization. The number of levels in management increases when the size of the

business and work force increases and vice versa. The level of management determines a chain of command, the amount of authority & status enjoyed by any managerial position. The levels of

management can be classified in three broad categories: –
Top level / Administrative level
Middle level / Executory
Low level / Supervisory / Operative / First-line managers

Managers at all these levels perform different functions.
Top Level of Management
The Top Level Management consists of the Board of Directors (BOD) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Chief Executive Officer is also called General Manager (GM) or Managing

Director (MD) or President. The Board of Directors are the representatives of the Shareholders, i.e. they are selected by the Shareholders of the company. Similarly, the Chief Executive

Officer is selected by the Board of Directors of an organisation.

The main role of the top level management is summarized as follows :-
The top level management determines the objectives, policies and plans of the organisation.

The top level management does mostly the work of thinking, planning and deciding. Therefore, they are also called as the Administrators and the Brain of the organisation.
They spend more time in planning and organising.
They prepare long-term plans of the organisation which are generally made for 5 to 20 years.
The top level management has maximum authority and responsibility. They are the top or final authority in the organisation. They are directly responsible to the Shareholders, Government and

the General Public. The success or failure of the organisation largely depends on their efficiency and decision making.
They require more conceptual skills and less technical Skills.

It consists of board of directors, chief executive or managing director. The top management is the ultimate source of authority and it manages goals and policies for an enterprise. It devotes

more time on planning and coordinating functions.

The role of the top management can be summarized as follows –
Top management lays down the objectives and broad policies of the enterprise.
It issues necessary instructions for preparation of department budgets, procedures, schedules etc.
It prepares strategic plans & policies for the enterprise.
It appoints the executive for middle level i.e. departmental managers.
It controls & coordinates the activities of all the departments.
It is also responsible for maintaining a contact with the outside world.
It provides guidance and direction.
The top management is also responsible towards the shareholders for the performance of the enterprise.

Middle Level of Management
The Middle Level Management consists of the Departmental Heads (HOD), Branch Managers, and the Junior Executives. The Departmental heads are Finance Managers, Purchase Managers,

etc. The Branch Managers are the head of a branch or local unit. The Junior Executives are Assistant Finance Managers, Assistant Purchase Managers, etc. The Middle level Management is

selected by the Top Level Management.

The middle level management emphasize more on following tasks :-
Middle level management gives recommendations (advice) to the top level management.
It executes (implements) the policies and plans which are made by the top level management.
It co-ordinate the activities of all the departments.
They also have to communicate with the top level Management and the lower level management.
They spend more time in co-ordinating and communicating.
They prepare short-term plans of their departments which are generally made for 1 to 5 years.
The middle Level Management has limited authority and responsibility. They are intermediary between top and lower management. They are directly responsible to the chief executive officer and

board of directors.
Require more managerial and technical skills and less conceptual skills.

The branch managers and departmental managers constitute middle level. They are responsible to the top management for the functioning of their department. They devote more time to

organizational and directional functions. In small organization, there is only one layer of middle level of management but in big enterprises, there may be senior and junior middle level

management. Their role can be emphasized as –
They execute the plans of the organization in accordance with the policies and directives of the top management.
They make plans for the sub-units of the organization.
They participate in employment & training of lower level management.
They interpret and explain policies from top level management to lower level.
They are responsible for coordinating the activities within the division or department.
It also sends important reports and other important data to top level management.
They evaluate performance of junior managers.
They are also responsible for inspiring lower level managers towards better performance.

Lower Level of Management
The lower level management consists of the Foremen and the Supervisors. They are selected by the middle level management. It is also called Operative / Supervisory level or First Line of

Management.

The lower level management performs following activities :-
Lower level management directs the workers / employees.
They develops morale in the workers.
It maintains a link between workers and the middle level management.
The lower level management informs the workers about the decisions which are taken by the management. They also inform the management about the performance, difficulties, feelings,

Lower level is also known as supervisory / operative level of management. It consists of supervisors, foreman, section officers, superintendent etc. According to R.C. Davis, “Supervisory

management refers to those executives whose work has to be largely with personal oversight and direction of operative employees”. In other words, they are concerned with direction and

controlling function of management. Their activities include –
Assigning of jobs and tasks to various workers.
They guide and instruct workers for day to day activities.
They are responsible for the quality as well as quantity of production.
They are also entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining good relation in the organization.
They communicate workers problems, suggestions, and recommendatory appeals etc to the higher level and higher level goals and objectives to the workers.
They help to solve the grievances of the workers.
They supervise & guide the sub-ordinates.
They are responsible for providing training to the workers.
They arrange necessary materials, machines, tools etc for getting the things done.
They prepare periodical reports about the performance of the workers.
They ensure discipline in the enterprise.
They motivate workers.
They are the image builders of the enterprise because they are in direct contact with the workers.

As information travels faster and faster and more reliably, barriers of distance disappear, and businesses are realizing how easy it is to outsource jobs overseas. Outsourcing refers to the

practice of hiring employees who work outside the company or remotely — and even halfway across the world. Companies can outsource duties such as computer programming and telephone

customer service. They can even outsource fast-food restuarant service — don’t be surprised if you’re putting in your hamburger order with a fast-food employee working in a different country

entirely. Outsourcing is a controversial practice, and many believe that U.S. companies who take part are hurting the job market in their own country. Nonetheless, from a business perspective, it

seems like the wisest route, saving companies between 30 and 70 percent
Another technology that’s starting to revolutionize business is actually not very new — it’s just cheaper these days. Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is infiltrating and changing

business significantly in a few ways. Microchips that store information (such as a number equivalent of a barcode and even an up-to-date history of the chip’s travels) can be attached to

product, and this helps companies keep track of their inventory.

Some businesses have even begun to use RFID chip implants in humans to tighten security. An access control reader detects the chip’s signal and permits the employee access to the door. But

The formal organization is what appears on the organization chart, usually with well-defined reporting relationships among managers and workers that describe its structure. Social

organizations, on the other hand, are patterns of coordination that arise spontaneously from the interaction for a group. Social organizations have no rational coordination and generally lack

explicit goals.

The informal organization is the pattern of relations and coordination among members of the formal organization that is not specified on a formal chart. It represents social interaction and is a

more realistic portrayal of the formal organization, because it reflects how people actually interact. For example, a group of workers may form an informal task force using electronic mail or

conferencing systems on a computer network this task force cuts across traditional organizational boundaries and constitutes a temporary, informal organization.

We must be careful to avoid designing information systems that follow unrealistic standards and procedures. We may find that these prescribed rules are not actually followed and that our

system is unworkable because we have adhered too closely to formal organizational considerations. It is hard to observe and describe the informal organization as it depends on the personalities

of specific individuals and patterns of behavior that have developed over time.
