There have been research findings regarding influence of “ Children rhymes / Children stories / Parables “ in shaping up ethics, beliefs, common country / Region oriented memetic thinking’s, achievement orientation, sense of duty and empowerment, motivation etc.

Some of the common assumptions, which come to most, intuitively; are found to be wrong !

Here is a partial list out some “ life theorems “ which are commonly opposite to “ Intuitive Thinking “.

( The context is 100% in Indian environment and ethos. Also the reader should be reminded of …. “ unlike Mathematical theorems, the Management / Psychology / Sociology theorems are often true / or mostly true / or most probable case “ )

Theorem 1 ) If there is NO powers / scope for disciplinary action / penalizing; the attempts to manage will be ineffective. ( Management by Request or pleading without authority does not work too far ) [ There is NOTHING called managing just by “ nice talk “ ]

At house if wife is wasting money with impulsive buys, if she often demands something or other then controlling such non-co-operation is very difficult. This is because often the Husband can-not take any disciplinary action against the wife. At office if a Departmental Head is exceeding the budget or not taking enough measures in cost cutting then the Directors / General Manager can caution her, counsel her, give a written warning ….. finally followed by termination. At home the sequence often is arguments, fighting, cold-war then compromise.

Divorce is not so easy or common for every aberration.

To avoid Feminist assumptions of the above example, other similar examples can be …. The Husband regularly drinks and gambles to waste money, the son / daughter blows money in parties and Discos. ( what can the wife or Parents do in these cases ? )

This theorem explains why books like “ Managing without AUTHORITY / POWER “ are meaningless to read. If a manager is stuck in a situation where s/he has no powers ( to lick or kiss ) but is “ responsible “ to get things done be request / or by pleading then the outcome will be highly sub-optimal.

The common assumption in this case was “ By requesting politely someone can manage “.

As an example let us see how the Authors / Movie Directors have depicted the characters, in similar situations. [ The characters on average unknowingly tend to reflect reality. It is known that authors “ design “ characters by average morphing of some people whom s/he has observed / seen / heard of. Thus if we study many characters that have been “ designed / depicted “ the average gives the “ general truth “.

Common Assumption -2 ) A person who had better academic results, and had cooked reasons to believe that s/he has better Intelligence than many of his / her friends, will earn more. Will be more “ successful “ is life. Will be more famous ….

Theorem 2 ) In a “ very “ long run a person puts himself on average wherever s/he should be. While “ success “, money, fame etc does not depend on studies, results, IQ etc. These are all independent….. Hard work, luck, contacts, ‘ X – factor “, “ place “ all kinds of variables have their influences.

Common Assumption -3 ) By “ not asking “ it will be polite. By being “ polite “ the rules will be applied as “ easier “.

Theorem 3 ) If the tough time of “ scrutiny “ and “ finger pointing “ comes then ALL rules will be applied in the strictest form. Every bit of “ act “ will be analysed.

!

In the job offer there are many clauses which most people do not bother to discuss. In many cases the company does not give all the “ conditions “ in the job-offer… At the time of joining the person is “ forced “ to sign an “ agreement “.

!

Often there is no choice for the “ new employee “ as he has resigned the previous job and is joining here.

!

So “ compromise “ is the most common “ solution “. By saying to self, “ All companies write this … it does not matter “, the ego is pacified…. And the person is into the trap.

!

Some of the clauses are as follows –

3.1 – “ You will not try to change your job or apply anywhere else without written permission “.

!

3.2 – “ You will not work for Suppliers, Customers, competitors …. In case you leave !“

!

3.3 – “ The company can terminate your services without providing any reasons what so ever !”

!

For those cases where there is trouble …. Company “ enforces “ all the rules / clauses for the employee. No one remembers if someone was “ polite “ and had “ not asked “ at the time to joining.

!

When a tenant is entering a new house after agreement / negotiations, all relationships and understandings are great. While in some cases the “ reality “ catches up very soon….. ( not getting water, door gets locked, basin is jammed, garden drain stinks but will not be repaired or cleaned … )

!

If someone wants to leave, then the deposit will be “ not returned “ before one month, “ you have to give 3 calendar months “ notice before leaving … etc ALL rules that the tenant agreed and signed are “ enforced “.

[ Interestingly I learned this pretty early in my life after reading a story in a children magazine named “ Suktara “. In that story there was a guy from “ good family “, who was “ without job; strayed into a group of “ bad friends “. This group occasionally used to “ loot “ train passengers by displaying weapons and threatening …. In the story this particular guy used to be slightly mild and helping…..though.

Once this whole group got caught and “ all “ their acts were “ analysed “ in great detail. After the “ trial “ he was also put to jail along with others for the same term ! ]

Common Assumption -4 ) In the job, working very hard / working extra hours, taking lot of ownership and responsibility, will fetch promotions / appreciations and hikes.

Theorem 4 ) A person who is “ good “ gets “ more work “. Expectation from him becomes more. The Management will watch him more closely. His outputs are scrutinized and discussed more, so more errors are found. If chance of “ blame game “ comes then there are more “ avenues “ to find fault with his performance.

!

How many Sundays I worked nobody remembers nor is interested in. If you appear for an interview do you think the Interviewer can find out how many Sundays did you work ? How many break downs you attended in the Night even though you had “ general shift “ duty ? If you are conducting an interview how do you find out “ How dedicated the candidate is “ ?

Old story – New style…

Have you heard the story of ” The Washer man and the Foolish Donkey” ?

To refresh your memory, and for the benefit of those who have not grown up listening to this moral story, it goes like this…

There was once a washer man who had a donkey and a dog. One night when the whole world was sleeping, a thief broke into the house, the washer man was fast asleep but the donkey and the dog were awake. The dog decided not to bark since the master did not take good care of him and wanted to teach him a lesson. The donkey got worried and said to the dog that if he doesn’t bark, the donkey will have to do something himself. The dog did not change his mind and the donkey started braying loudly. Hearing the donkey bray, the thief ran away, the master woke up and started beating the donkey for braying in the middle of the night for no reason.

Moral of the story ” One must not engage in duties other than his own”

 

Now take a new look at the same  story…

The washer man was a well educated man from a premier management institute. He had the fundas of looking at the bigger picture and thinking out of the box. He was convinced that there must be some reason for the donkey to bray in the night. He walked outside a little and did some fact finding, applied a bottom up approach, figured out from the ground realities that there was a thief who broke in and the donkey only wanted to alert him about it. Looking at the donkey’s extra initiative and going beyond the call of the duty, he rewarded him with lot of hay and other perks and became his favorite pet. The dog’s life didn’t change much, except that now the donkey was more motivated in doing the dogs duties as well. In the annual appraisal the dog managed a ” meets requirement” Soon the dog realized that the donkey is taking care of his duties and he can enjoy his life sleeping and lazing around. The donkey was rated as ” star performer”. The donkey had to live up to his already high performance standards. Soon he was over burdened with work and always under pressure and now is looking for a job rotation…

If you have worked in a corporate environment, I am sure you have guessed the characters of the new story.

( Retrenchment, Salary cut, VRS <- Have you ever heard about these ? ) regardless how hard someone had worked for “ whole “ life. There is NO value of loyalty. If a person tries to change job after 20 years of working with a company, it is termed that he is “ so inefficient “ that he could not change for so long !

Common Assumption -6 ) By being polite and by enduring for some time, the weight-age of the complain will go up. While if complained from very beginning then will be termed as “ complaining nature “.

Theorem 6 ) The clock starts from the “ last day “ or the last warning. ( not from the first report or from the first warning ).

Think of a situation when you are getting disturbing calls from a call centre who are trying to sell Credit card to you from a particular bank. This happens for many weeks. Then one fine day being disgusted you complain to the “ National Manager “ of the Bank. S/he says … will look into it ….. after 3 days you get a disturbing call again. When you tell the National manager that the calls continue to come…. She says you just “ brought to our notice 3 days back… wait for 3 weeks before this can be stopped !

If you have complained to some Bank 4 times, then in their Internal meeting they WILL take the date of your last complain and may analyze. ( The previous complains are “ conveniently “ forgotten ). Every complain starts “ afresh “ !

A guy gave me a cheque to return some money which was due to me for 4 months ! As I deposited the cheque, it bounced. After lot of follow-up I told to give me cash with INTEREST. By that time two and half months have passed again. He gave interest of 2 and half months but not of 6 and half months. His logic is “ I had accepted the first cheque which had bounced without interest”. …….. so discussion of INTEREST starts only from the date in which it bounced.

Common Assumption -7 ) Trying “ to communicate has value.

Theorem 7 ) The number of tries or number of attempts to communicate does NOT matter.

Say you try someone’s phone number quite a few times, well even at different times…. But could never get through. Say the phone came busy, or it kept ringing through….. Then finally when you talk to her after many days and you say that you tried many times but could not get through….. How much weight-age will you get for 1 try and 10 tries and 100 tries ? [ No one is bothered How many times you tried ]

Have you ever experienced a busy phone which you could not get though in a Bank or a call centre ?

Similarly if someone gets you over the phone after lot of “ trying “ and informs you …. That … “ My GOD I got you after so much of tries …. “

What would you say ?

Most probable answer will be “ Well, I am sorry, … my phone keeps ringing…. OK Now tell me what is it ?

Common Assumption -8 ) Compassionate people are mild, nice, helping & great.

Theorem 8 ) Compassion is a manifestation of “ ego ”.

It was genius of Gadadhar Chattopadhyay ( Ramakrishna Paramhansa ) to ask “ Tui doya korar ke “. ( meaning – who are you to feel bad and show compassion ? )

It is NOT common knowledge to identify compassion as one of the manifestation of ego. As some ladies who do social work say “ If I do not look after these beggars who will ? “

!

How many people in this world, who are alive now, have read Leo Tolstoy ‘s story in which an angel tried to show compassion and faulted in his duty, for which God send him to earth for “ training “. He learned that events are happening in a sequence and EVERYTHING is taken care of !

Common Assumption -9 )If we meet a person who is “ talking a lot “, we often assume s/he has lot to say.

Theorem 9 ) Most people haven’t got much to say. Tell them to write and will see they will have very few points.

Structured writing needs very good grasping power, analytical skills and organized / planned behavior. In the Industry people need to be trained for “ good writing skills “. By default people are not good writers nor are laconic.

!

While writing “ repetitions “ become less. ( In contrast to talking often people repeat their say ). So when someone is forced to write, How much s/he has really to say comes out more clearly.

Common Assumption -10 ) Often people fight, sermonize, argue, threaten, coax, cajole…. To change / improve someone. People assume that “ By telling “ the person being told will improve, change and will become better.

Theorem 10 ) Avoiding is much BETTER protest and “ win “ than arguing / fighting / “ teaching him a lesson “.

Silence is the best reply to a fool

In most situations avoidance is possible. The person is not going to change !

The probability of ( very slight ) change after lot of trying is almost NIL. We see this in home, families….. The basic nature of the person just does not change.

Also it is well known in various schools of Psychology that the “ Basic Nature “ of the person gets “ formed “ by age of 6 Years ! It gets reinforced by age of 16 years !

As an example Friendly / communicative, ethical, slow / quick, planned / organised / disorganized etc qualities can be observed to be FIXED amongst close friends / people whom we meet.

!

So why to waste time preaching ? By fighting and after lot of try when we see the person is not changing … we only get exhausted and stressed.

Most simple solution is to STOP all business with him / her.

Common Assumption -11 ) In Cancer screening, especially lung cancer screening, it is known that if you detect cancer early survival is better.

So it is intuitively expected that if you screen for cancers and detect those early, cancer mortality in population will decrease.

Theorem 11 ) Exactly opposite was seen in Mayo lung cancer project (and findings are still the same after 25 years of follow up), in case of breast cancer screening in women under 50 years of age, excess mortality is seen for first 7-8 years in screened group.

Common Assumption -12 ) Game theory assumes that people are Rational and Intelligent. It is expected that people will take most optimal decisions, for their benefit.

Theorem 12 ) In real life while people take decisions, quite simple, naïve, and common errors are observed amongst most people. In most cases the Game theory predictions are observed rarely.

Theorem 13 ) In Mathematics there are MANY counterintuitive learning’s. Some of these can be listed as follows …

–          Godel’s incompleteness theorem.

–          Limits of computation by Turin machines.

–          The number of rational numbers in between two real numbers is MORE than total number of Integers.

–          For an angle which is NON-multiple of 90 deg, can NOT be trisected only by a ruler and compass.

–          For Quintic equations and higher general solutions do NOT exist

–          Non Euclidian Geometry results. ( Took more than 700 years to develop )

–          Euler’s equation relating e, Pi and “ i “. ( e** ( i * Pi ) = -1 )

–          The list can go on.

Theorem 14 ) In Physics there are MANY counterintuitive learning’s. Some of these can be listed as follows …

–          The pressure of a liquid ( h* Rho * g ) depends only on the height and not the mass / amount of liquid. From leaning tower of Pisa Galileo showed that a wine cask can be “ cracked “ just by a mug of water if the pipe connecting the cask is thin. Also this does NOT depend on the direct height but only on projected overall height !

–          Yang and Lee showed ( later experimentally confirmed by Ms Wu ) that the nature is asymmetrical in certain situations. We get more radiation discharges on one particular side than the other.

–          In Quantum mechanics many results are pretty baffling when read first time. Tunneling effect, Multiple Slit experimental observations,  Limits of position * Momentum ( energy * time ) determination, Bell’s Inequality, Aspect experimental observations, wave particle Duality, Spooky force / coupling at distance, reasons for particles following a statistical law as if has memory etc. In case of reflection / refraction at a surface the photons are emitted in a particular direction following certain statistical laws.

–          Diffraction becoming more and more prominent as the hole / slit size decreases.

–          The laws of General and Special theory of relativity and deductions thereof are pretty counter Intuitive. Increase of mass at high speed, speed of light as the limit, length contraction at high speed, Time ticking slowly, The values of relative velocity when both particles are moving at high speed etc. Mass energy interchangeable relations. Bending of light due to gravity.

–          Absence of Ether. Michelson Morley experiment.

–          Maxwell’s equations. Relationships between Electric field and Magnetic fields.

–          Earth is spherical instead of Flat. Earth is rotating around itself causing days and nights, and actually sun and whole universe is not rotating around the Earth. <- Such ideas itself took centuries to understand.

–          The list can go on.

Common Assumption -15 ) The plants and fish in sea may be “ salty “. As these are always completely submerged in salty water ….

Theorem 15 ) The common way to get water in the middle of the sea is to squeeze the fish and drink its blood / juices. The fluids from the fish is not as salty as the sea water.

 Helping them up

Common Assumption -16 ) People generally think that the buyer is rich and smart. If someone is buying off a company, then generally it is assumed that he is a rich guy, regardless how much loan he may have taken.

Theorem 16 ) It needs smartness to sell. Those who have tried to sell something know how difficult it actually is. When someone is buying a high value thing ( such as a company ) then the seller actually makes money. It becomes the buyers headache to keep it profitable by investment / restructuring / layoff etc. This is reflected in the stock prices statistically. If company A is going to buy company B, then stock of A ( generally ) drops while stocks of B goes up. So the seller is smarter in most cases.

Common Assumption -17 )   While a guy is being considered for promotion at job for next level, often his traits / performance in the present role is analyzed.

How well will he do in the next role often is unknown or very difficult to analyze.

Past is a mutable story

Theorem 17 )   Human beings require to do DIFFERENT role plays while acting as a “ subordinate “ and while acting as “ Boss / supervisor / Manager “.

Explanation – In a management class room game when people are told to choose a manager and a subordinate from a given set of characters, most choose DIFFERENT characters / descriptions for each role. This shows that majority of the Human beings expect different things from their Manager and from their Sub-ordinate. People by default do not realize that in an organization same person is playing both the roles. The best results can be obtained in real life situations if a person can flip roles when acting like a boss and when acting like a subordinate.

Common Assumption -18 )      People often assume that by training or by staying in a particular group, a person will change. There are lot of discussions in India about “ Satsangh “ meaning having nice friends and people. Many mothers in India think that their son will change behavior if he gets married. As per this assumption many mothers force an arranged marriage for their son …

Theorem 18 ) The Basic behavioral structure of people can NOT change. Gets fixed largely by 6 years of age. All schools of Psychology confirm and deal with this basic fixed-behavior.

So in certain situations “ choosing “ the person with right required behaviors / traits is ONLY option. By training hardly any attitudinal change will come in.

Common Assumption -19 )        Every Interviewer has his own style of interviewing. As per his life experiences / biases and “ understanding “ the interviewer thinks that by observing a few random adjectives that he is looking for in the Candidate, he will able to “ know “ and decide on the candidate!

Theorem 19 ) In an interview by observing a large number of random adjectives does not necessarily help. Most people are unaware of OCEAN model. ( Openness, Conscientiousness, Extrovert, Agreeableness and Neurotic ). The OCEAN adjectives being the mother of all adjectives, should be first to be measured. More other adjectives help more. If an unplanned interviewer ( as it happened most of the cases ) seeks random adjectives and misses out to measure one or more of the OCEAN ones then most probably the decision is luck based.

Common Assumption – 20 )    By watching a person everyone can “ know “ about the person.

Theorem 20 )  Our perception and interpretations come in between. We observe certain things and do not observe certain things. Also often the interpretation may not be correct as compared to a trained person observing. All behaviors may not be revealed as well. In “ Psychology “ it is suggested that after observing a person in 30 different situations we may able to conclude rather than hasty generalizations.

We do NOT observe Adjectives in people. We watch their ACTIONs ( VERBS ). We interpret adjectives out of those Verbs. That is our perception. Statistical confirmation is the ONLY way to “ know “ Reality.

Human beings have biases in their opinion, thoughts ( They harbor many types of Fallacies ).

People are known to be impulsive, give too high importance to Recent events.

People give distorted opinions and take wrong decisions in certain situations.

Due to Technical limitations of “ Statistics “ these drawbacks add to errors while understanding reality.

21 ) In winter months we have too much cold related problems, flu, sneezing, Asthma, Tonsillitis etc. Children and old people become slow and often suffer. Any guess in these months Pharma companies sale more or less ?

 

In winter months the sales of Pharma companies are the least. In fact by overall statistics of diseases these winter months are safest for people as they fall ill the least !

22 ) The whole cosmos is the result of a random chance event following the rules of Physics, Mathematics and Blind Biology that has neither a primary purpose nor an ultimate goal.

!

But people from all ages and countries have Imagined, Designed, Worshiped, Feared Gods, Deities, Demons, Beasts and what not.

!

!

23 ) People take care of their various body parts differently. For example people take medicine, or go to a doctor for headaches very easily but most do not take care of their teeth. Oral hygiene is rare to see. Most people do not brush after Dinner ( before sleep ). Most do not rinse their mouth after tea, or coffee and allow the sugar to degrade. Very few people stop tobacco or Paan even after loosing part of their teeth. Going to a dentist in regular intervals for scaling and checkup is very rare.

More rare is to see people take care of their ears. In TV we hardly see any advertisement for something related to ear hygiene.

!

In contrast for small fevers, joint pains, and various small / big ailments people do self medication or go to doctor easily / commonly. Much care is taken for face with lotions and creams, while dandruff or lice is common !

24 ) My Facebook friends are very nice and IMPORTANT for me. ( Though I knew it in bits and pieces )  I learn’t  a Theorem from de Botton’s videos ( Anxiety status series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKkdFSqAxV8 ) [ We human beings compare ourselves { unnecessarily } with similar persons in status / background. ] Explanation : So we will not compare ourselves with wealth of Queen, or say with status of Bill gates. But we will bend backwards to compare ourselves more and more with our neighbors, colleagues ( for promotion, salary, cars, houses etc ), with batch mates …  ……  When someone opens a ” new ” account in a social site such as Facebook etc mostly starts with ” friends ” such as batchmates, and colleagues. Very few get friends outside this circle. Also ACTIVITY in these sites are inversely proportional to age. People at age of around 50 years will be busy in rat race rather cultivate friends for ACTIVISM / revolution, or say in any social service.  Today ( June 2012, after 6 years of active use ) here in Facebook I have NIL ( zero ) number of friends from my school. 2 ( Two ) from std 11, 12 batch. Around Two ( 2 ) dozen from my Engineering college batchmates. Amongst these Engineering college friends only 4-5 of them are active, while others share any message hardly once in 3 months to once a year. No ” Team building ” , activism, or Revolution is possible with these kind of ” busy ” people. Talking about my Engineering branch ( specifically ) [ Electronics ] hardly anyone is into core Electronics technically, mostly are Managers or into software coolies, some are into HR, Furniture Business, Ancestral shop, Finance etc…. ( This kind of wastage of engineering study is in sharp contrast to Doctors, who remain Doctors ). Quite a few are out of jobs. Yet no dearth of COMPARISONS. So the above theorem is a very important ( counter intuitive ) realization that we DO NOT get lot of good friends amongst ” batchmates ” though intuitively thats what we start with.

1 ) How do I prepare for IIT ?

Ans : – See the videos made by me ( search for videos in http://www.skmclasses.kinja.com
Though we have many more which have not been uploaded ). While watching the videos, take notes and try to solve the problems yourself by pausing the video. Tell me if any calculation is wrong. See the videos with 1- first then 2- and so on. Write to IAPT Kothrud, Pune office to buy ( 150 Rs approx ) the book with previous papers of NSEP ( National Standard Exam in Physics – The 1st level ), INPhO ( Indian National Physics Olympiad – 2nd level ). Prepare with these and see how much you are scoring. You can guess your ALL INDIA rank easily from NSEP, and INPhO rank. Since 1998 the IIT JEE toppers have been mostly representing India in IPhO.

2 ) Which codec and Player do I use to see the videos ?

Ans : – You can use GOM Player, or VLC Player. You have to have good speakers with filters or good earphones with filters. We have checked mostly it is OK with these. ( If you are depending only on your embedded speakers of computer /screen / keyboard then there may be extra distortions. As these speakers are often not of good Quality. Also install latest KL Codecs ) In any case reduce the volume see the board, imagine sitting in the last bench and solving the problems of your own. See if your solution differs anywhere with the scribbles on the board.

3 ) Why are you giving these ( high Quality ) lecture for free ?

Ans : Well there are lot of good things free in this world. Linux, My-SQL, Open-Office ….. Go to sourceforge and get thousands of high quality software free along with source code. Yes all officially free …. Why do you think Richard Stallman, Zimmerman, ….. etc are considered Guru philosophers ? In Punjab and Gurudwaras worldwide there are so many Langars where you get better food than Restaurants. … why ? Why do you have Dharmasalas and subsidized rest rooms near hospitals / Famous Temples / various places ? in Iftar party anyone can eat for free …  why ?  I am teaching for 20 years now and observed most students can do much better if they have the self motivation to solve and practice. Cheap books are available in second hand bookstalls, where you get thousands of Numericals to solve ….. but most students will like to blow their time going and coming for tuition, travel time …. TV for hours and hours watching cricket / Tennis games, playing computer games …. My free lectures are not going to make much difference in spending of unnecessary money for coaching ….. I know very well , how much people enjoy .. , spending unnecessarily !!    Do you know that there are NO poor / needy students in Bangalore. Sometime back I had tried to teach for IIT JEE FREE. Discussed with a few NGOs and social service guys. Arranged rooms but got only 1 student. We had informed many people in many ways to inform students …. We did not get students who are ready to learn for free. So I am sure these lectures are NOT FREE. If anyone learns from these, s/he changes and that’s the gain / benefit. This change ( due to learning ) is very costly …. Most do not want to learn ………..

4 ) How can I get all your lectures ?

Ans : – Apart from my lectures there are approx 700 GB of PCM ( Phy, Chem, Math ) lectures. It takes approx 3 years of continuous download from scattered sources. I have ( 20,000 )Thousands of these. You can take ALL of them from me in an external 1 TB hard disk, instead of spending so much money and time again for downloading. These cover ( by Various Professors ) everything of Chemistry, Physics, Maths… Lot of this is from outside India … as foreigners have much wider heart than Indians ( as most of GNU / open source software have been developed by Non-Indians ). I observed the gaps in these videos, and thus I am solving IIT, APhO, Roorkey, IPhO Numericals. Videos made by me along with these videos gives a complete preparation.

9 ) Why did you write an article saying there are No Poor students ?

Ans :- There are lots of NGOs and others working for rural / poor children education at lower classes. While very less effort is on for std 9 till 12. Also see the answer in question number ( 3 ) above. In last 20 years of teaching I never met a Poor child who was seriously interested in ( higher ) studies. As I have a mind / thinking of a ” Physicist “, I go by ” Experimental Observation “.

It is not about what is being said about poor in media / TV etc, or ” what it should be ” ( ? ) …. It is about what I see happening. Also to add ( confuse ? you more )…. You must be knowing that in several states over many years now girl students have better ( by marks as well as by pass percentage ) result in std 10 / Board Exams….. well but NEVER a girl student came FIRST in IIT JEE … why ? [ The best rank by a Girl student is mostly in 2 digits, very rarely in single digit ]  ????? So ????

10 ) How much do I have to study to make it to IIT ?

Ans :- My experience of  Teaching for IIT JEE since last 20 years, tells me, Total 200 hours per subject ( PCM ) is sufficient. If you see my Maths and Physics videos, each subject is more than 200 hours. So if someone sees all the videos diligently, takes notes and remembers, …… Done.

11 ) What is EAMCET ?

Ans :- Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test is conducted by JNT University Hyderabad on behalf of APSCHE. This examination is the gateway for entry into various professional courses offered in Government/Private Colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

12 ) In your videos are you covering other Exams apart from IIT ?

Ans : – Yes. See many videos made by solving problems of MPPET, Rajasthan / J&K CET, UPSEAT ( UPES Engineering Aptitude Test ), MHCET, BCECE ( Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board ), WB JEE etc

13 ) What is SCRA ?

Ans : – Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) board, for about 10 seats.That translates into an astonishing ratio of 1 selection per 10,000 applicants. The SCRA scheme was started in 1927 by the British, to select a handful of most intelligent Indians to assist them in their Railway Operations, after training at their Railway’s largest workshop, i.e. Jamalpur Workshop, and for one year in United Kingdom. The selected candidates were required to appear in the Mechanical Engineering Degree Examination held by Engineering Council (London).

    “A person who is “ good “ gets “ more work “. Expectation from him becomes more. The Management will watch him more closely. His outputs are scrutinized and discussed more, so more errors are found. If chance of “ blame game “ comes then there are more “ avenues “ to find fault with his performance.”

    That is a somewhat negative view. It should be complemented by the observation that it is also true that it can and often will be noted if an employee excels at his work.

    If you have not yet done so, have a look at Prof. Cyril Northcote Parkinson’s ‘Parkinson’s Law’. His satirical critique in that focuses on corporate culture, mainly the government bureaucracy. Here is an observation in that which fits your Theorem #4, right at the opening of ‘Parkinson’s Law’

    ‘WORK EXPANDS SO AS TO FILL THE TIME AVAILABLE FOR ITS COMPLETION’

    “General recognition of this fact is shown in the proverbial phrase ‘It is the busiest man who has time to spare.’ Thus, an elderly lady of leisure can spend the entire day in writing and dispatching a postcard to her niece at Bognor Regis. An hour will be spent finding the postcard, another in hunting for spectacles, half an hour in a search for the address, an hour and a quarter in composition, and twenty minutes in deciding whether or not to take an umbrella when going to the pillar box in the next street.     That has been turned into a principle of management that dictates the best strategy for getting a work assignment done in a hurry: Give it to the busiest employee.

    However, it is also a good piece of career advice for anyone (I have given it to all of my children, and those who took it to heart derived substantial benefits from it).

    Aim at using about one-third of your time on the job to getting your daily routines done. Spend another third of your time on studying and understanding the corporate context of the content, flow and transformation of the information you must deal with. Organize and document the work processes involved, while concentrating on how to perform your work processes, such as that you can perform your work with the least amount of effort while producing the best quantity and quality of work possible.

    In German corporate culture and tradition, a yes-man is known and given recognition to as a ‘bicycle rider’, someone who makes progress by bending his upper torso, as in bowing to authorities, while at the same time kicking as hard as he can with his feet (where the co-workers and subordinates are).

    In other words, a ‘bicycle rider’ makes progress through displaying humility to superiors while exercising ruthlessness in relation to peers and subordinates.

    In my experience, in the majority of cases the basic character matrix of individuals is permanently in place by the end of age four or five.

    For that reason it is extremely important for children to have their natural fathers present during the first years of their lives, as otherwise they will miss out on the important contributions that fathers make to forming their children’s characters.
